Director of Facilities Accounting

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Director of Facilities Accounting to lead financial and operational support for the Facilities Operations & Planning division on the Coral Gables campus. This senior position oversees budgeting, reporting, and internal controls for all facilities‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee accounting functions, including systems, procedures, and internal/external financial reporting.
• Assist with year‑end audits, provide schedules and supporting documentation.
• Manage month‑end financial and management reporting and act as liaison with University Finance.
• Collaborate with AVPs and Directors to establish and monitor operating budget accounts.
• Develop long‑term strategic financial plans for divisional operational budgets.
• Coordinate fiscal year‑end closing and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
• Analyze costs, support cost‑control initiatives, and correct financial entry errors.
• Prepare narrative and statistical reports related to facilities functions.
• Recommend system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations to the Executive Director.
• Establish and assess internal controls, providing training on policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, and implement financial processes.
