Director of Executive Communications for COO

About the role

Okta is seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Executive Communications to lead all aspects of communications for the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This high‑impact position serves as a trusted advisor and operational architect, shaping the COO’s voice to align with Okta’s vision and drive clarity across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a communication strategy that defines the COO’s voice, emphasizing operational excellence, business impact, and the connective tissue between Okta’s vision and execution.
• Lead communication workstreams for company‑wide shifts, reorganizations, and COO strategy updates, delivering direct and transparent messaging during transitions.
• Position the COO as an industry authority on identity, SaaS operations, GTM innovation, and high‑performance culture through keynotes, speeches, blogs, social content, board presentations, and other public‑facing materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with Okta’s executive leadership team and partner with Global Communications, People, Marketing, Legal, Investor Relations, and agency partners to ensure cohesive messaging.
• Use metrics to validate communication strategies and align the COO’s organization with the company’s Vision, Measures, and Targets (VMT).
• Proactively identify and mitigate communication risks related to business operations, handling sensitive internal matters with utmost confidentiality.

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of communications experience, ideally owning a C‑level executive’s thought‑leadership and communications platform in a high‑growth SaaS or technology company.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor and operational architect for senior leadership.
• Proven track record of managing external and internal communications during large‑scale change initiatives.
