Director of Construction

About the role

The h.wood Group is seeking a Director of Construction to lead the delivery of restaurant, boutique hotel, members’ club and design‑driven retail projects across the United States and Europe. Reporting to the SVP of Development, you will translate creative concepts into built environments, ensuring each space feels both effortless and meticulously considered.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with brand, culinary and operations teams to execute distinct, cohesive hospitality spaces.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to maintain design intent while ensuring buildability, efficiency and operational soundness.
• Own day‑to‑day management of multiple projects from design development through construction and pre‑opening.
• Drive schedules, budgets and on‑site execution with precision and accountability.
• Coordinate with general contractors, fabricators and specialty vendors to guarantee quality and consistency.
• Navigate permitting, approvals and landlord coordination.
• Support seamless opening by bridging construction completion and operational readiness.
• Build and maintain relationships with contractors, artisans and consultants who share a commitment to quality.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of experience delivering projects in restaurants, boutique hotels, members’ clubs or design‑led retail environments.
• Hands‑on experience managing hospitality build‑outs.
• Strong understanding of materiality, craftsmanship and spatial quality.
