Director of Admissions

About the role

The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is seeking a full‑time Director of Admissions to lead the admissions process for its Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program and associated joint‑degree pathways. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions and the Executive Director of Medical Education, the Director will translate the school’s mission‑based selection criteria into fair, consistent, and legally sound practices across the entire applicant lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to increase both the quantity and quality of applicants.
• Define admission guidelines and criteria for all programs and ensure compliance with university policies.
• Assess market trends, conduct external benchmarking, and identify new markets for program expansion.
• Oversee the review of applicant files, conduct interviews, and make data‑driven admission decisions.
• Collaborate with marketing, communications, and other departments to align recruitment campaigns with admission goals.
• Manage the admissions budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Establish and continuously evaluate internal controls, training staff on policies and procedures.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the admissions team to maintain high performance and professionalism.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level leadership experience in higher‑education admissions or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of admissions policies, compliance standards, and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and drive strategic initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Experience managing budgets and overseeing operational processes.
