Director of Accounting & Finance (Controller)

About the role

The company, a growing real‑estate investment and property‑management firm, seeks a senior leader to own and evolve its accounting and finance function. This position combines strategic system design with hands‑on accounting execution, supporting a portfolio of 40+ entities and roughly 100 properties.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and financial reporting for the entire property portfolio, including monthly, quarterly and annual close processes.
• Manage accounting across 40+ legal entities, ensuring accurate property‑level, entity‑level and consolidated financial statements.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, owner distributions, lender reporting and cash management.
• Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, lenders, investors and internal ownership.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls, budgeting, forecasting and KPI tracking.
• Identify and implement automation, AI‑supported workflows and technology‑enabled processes to improve accuracy and speed.
• Create detailed SOPs, process diagrams and performance dashboards for portfolio‑level analysis.

Required profile

• Extensive accounting experience, preferably in real‑estate or property‑management environments.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑entity accounting structures (40+ entities).
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on building scalable systems and processes.
• Leadership experience managing a finance team and collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Expertise in real‑estate/property‑management accounting.
• Experience designing and implementing process automation and AI‑supported workflows.
• Ability to develop SOPs, process documentation and KPI frameworks.
