Director, Financial Aid

About the role

The State of Georgia is looking for a Director of Financial Aid to lead the Financial Aid Office in Griffin. This senior position oversees daily operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and delivers high‑quality service to students seeking financial assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision to Financial Aid Specialists and Coordinators.
• Assist the Executive Director with management of Ellucian/Banner Financial Aid and Self‑Serve modules.
• Coordinate compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies.
• Oversee technology use within the Financial Aid Office, including system upgrades and data integrity.
• Manage Veteran Affairs educational benefits and ensure adherence to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs regulations.
• Supervise reconciliation processes for federal and state financial aid programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience; five years of progressive financial aid experience preferred.
• At least two years of supervisory experience with a record of team building and problem‑solving.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret financial data and resolve complex issues.

Required skills

• Ellucian Banner student financial aid system.
• SQL and Popsel query writing.
• Knowledge of Federal Financial Aid, Georgia Student Finance, and Veteran Affairs systems (CHECS, SURFER, COD, NSLDS, EdConnect, FSA Partner, Enrollment Manager).
• Experience with award processing, verification, appeals review, and student counseling.
