Director, Development Operations

About the role

Point Foundation, the nation's largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ+ and ally students, is seeking a hands-on, systems-minded Director of Development Operations. The role owns the full technical infrastructure powering fundraising, partnering closely with the Chief Development Officer on day-to-day work and with the Sr. Director, Technology & Systems on the technical roadmap. It is a full-time, exempt position based remotely in the greater Los Angeles area, with occasional in-person meetings and relocation assistance available.

Key responsibilities

• Own the donor database, its data integrity, hygiene, reporting and analytics, and direct staff on day-to-day data work
• Set and enforce donor data privacy, security and access policies, and ensure compliance with regulations and PCI standards across fundraising platforms
• Build dashboards, KPIs and revenue forecasts for the Chief Development Officer, gift officers and leadership
• Manage the Development technology stack (Fundraise Up, iWave and others), vendor relationships and integrations with Finance, Marketing and Programs
• Plan the CRM strategy and the Development technology roadmap, and pilot AI tools to automate workflows while protecting donor data
• Oversee gift entry, processing, revenue reconciliation, acknowledgments and tax receipts in line with IRS requirements
• Support appeals, campaigns and events through list segmentation, coding and integration of registration and giving data
• Train staff, troubleshoot issues, streamline processes and maintain documentation of data standards and procedures

Required profile

• 6+ years of development operations, database administration or fundraising systems experience, including 2+ years in a senior or leadership capacity
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• Direct experience administering a nonprofit CRM/donor database such as Raiser's Edge, including data integrity, gift processing and attribution, and report building
• Experience managing multiple integrated fundraising platforms as a system owner, not just an end user
• Hands-on experience piloting and implementing AI tools to automate workflows
• Highly organized, deadline-driven, with discretion with sensitive donor information and commitment to equity and inclusion

Required skills

• Building and running reports, queries and donor/prospect lists from a CRM database
• Preferred: SQL, data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau, and experience managing vendor relationships or leading system migrations
