Director, Basic Law Enforcement

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a strategic leader to head the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at Augusta Technical College. This senior position oversees academic programs, ensures compliance with state and POST standards, and prepares students for successful careers in law enforcement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership and align curriculum with Technical College System of Georgia and Georgia POST standards.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs that lead to the Basic Law Enforcement Technical Certificate of Credit.
• Manage the academy’s annual budget, operational guidelines, and strategic planning.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate instructors and instructional facilitators.
• Coordinate quarterly advisory committee meetings and maintain documentation.
• Monitor student enrollment, retention, placement data, and ensure high-quality instructional materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with local law‑enforcement agencies, university administration, and community partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in academic leadership or program management within law‑enforcement or public‑safety training.
• Strong understanding of Georgia POST Basic Mandate Standards and Technical College System of Georgia requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, supervise staff, and oversee curriculum development.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with admissions, faculty, and external partners.
