Direct Support Professional – School-Based Psychiatric Rehab

About the role

The Direct Support Professional 19 provides school‑based psychiatric rehabilitation services to youth at Pretty Boy Elementary School in Baltimore County. The role focuses on building emotional regulation, coping strategies, social skills and functional independence while delivering Medicaid‑compliant, billable PRP sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑on‑one PRP skill‑building sessions on‑site according to each client’s Individualized Rehabilitation Plan.
• Deliver scheduled services to a caseload of ten youth (five three times per week, five twice per week) and submit timely, accurate progress notes.
• Use correct PRP service codes (H2016‑15, H2016‑52) and maintain Medicaid minimum service requirements.
• Respond to emerging student needs, participate in team meetings, and coordinate with therapists and RN case managers.
• Assist with urgent community needs such as housing crises or emergency appointments.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; a bachelor’s degree required for work with minors.
• At least one year of experience in behavioral health or human services.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Pass a background check and complete 20 hours of PRP observation plus 40 hours of training.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Knowledge of PRP service coding and Medicaid PRP standards.
