Digital Physical Design (P&R) Intern

About the role

NXP is looking for a Digital Physical Design (P&R) intern to join a highly experienced team. The internship is based in the Chandler office, with a requirement to relocate to the Phoenix metro area (Arizona) for the full duration and to spend at least three full days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Understand the existing flow, tools and scripts used for the digital backend flow, from synthesis to GDSII, using Cadence tools.
• Support multiple parallel runs to test different RTL implementations and tool options, aiming to find the most area-optimal solution.
• Study the Cadence tools' user manuals and user forum discussions, and suggest improvements to existing flows and scripts that improve the quality and efficiency of the backend flow.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Master's degree (MSEE) with most courses relevant to digital design, RTL and digital backend flow.
• Any prior experience with this flow is a strong plus.
• Willingness to relocate to the Phoenix metro area for the full internship and to attend the Chandler office at least three days a week.
• Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, planning, organization, attention to detail and communication skills.
