Diesel Mechanic – Full-Time (Matteson, IL)

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a full‑time Diesel Mechanic for its Matteson, IL service center. The role involves maintaining and repairing the company’s fleet of Class 8 trucks, trailers and related equipment. You will work on preventive maintenance as well as major repairs to keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair major mechanical issues on Class 8 trucks and trailers.
• Service air‑conditioning and electrical systems.
• Maintain trailers, lift gates, overhead doors, and other facility equipment.
• Perform welding and minor fabrication as required.
• Complete work orders using the Cetaris system.
• Adhere to safety standards and lift up to 50 lb.
• Maintain personal tool set and keep work area organized.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Experience with Cummins and Detroit engines.
• Ability to perform major repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Familiarity with AC and electrical systems.
• Must be able to lift 50 lb and possess own tools.
• Valid Class A CDL preferred.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
