Designer – Commercial & Residential Roof & Floor Systems

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Designer to create and finalize layouts for commercial and complex residential roof and floor systems. The role involves independent judgment, collaboration with engineers, architects, and contractors, and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design commercial and complex residential roof and floor systems and produce detailed layouts.
• Discuss design changes and corrections with engineers, architects, and contractors before and during construction.
• Present, sell, and follow‑up on new jobs, coordinating with sales and project teams.
• Prepare roof truss and truss joist layouts and generate material lists.
• Conduct job‑site inspections and resolve architectural or design discrepancies.
• Maintain and upgrade computer systems to ensure accurate design applications.
• Assist the shipping department and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in civil, architectural or design‑related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of drafting experience in construction or building‑materials industry.
• Applicable work experience may substitute for education requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints.
