Design Engineer - POP Displays and Retail Fixtures

About the role

Simpalm Staffing is hiring a Design Engineer for one of its direct clients in the USA. The role turns bold retail concepts into display fixtures that are built, shipped and sold. You will bring hands-on SolidWorks expertise, a strong command of manufacturing-ready drawings and working knowledge of plastic, metal and wood fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Translate design concepts and client requirements into detailed, manufacturable engineering solutions.
• Develop complete drawing packs and BOMs for prototype and production phases.
• Design for manufacturability in plastic, metal and wood, balancing cost, safety, assembly and usability.
• Collaborate with production and project teams to protect design intent, quality standards and delivery timelines.
• Support prototype build-outs and inspections with DPM/PPM teams, ensuring quality and functional requirements are met.
• Visit factories as needed to review construction methods, verify specifications and conduct quality checks.
• Ensure all technical documentation meets company standards and project specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing POP displays or retail fixtures.
• Proven manufacturing knowledge across plastics (sheet fabrication, vacuum forming, injection molding, extrusions), metals (sheet metal, wire forming, tube bending, finishing) and wood (fabrication, hardware integration, finishing).
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a team.
• Nice to have: SolidWorks EPDM knowledge and familiarity with 3D rendering tools such as 3ds Max or Cinema 4D.
