Design Engineer II – Mechanical Design & Analysis

About the role
Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking a Design Engineer II to join its engineering team in Kingston, NY. The role focuses on the design, analysis, and development of new products and improvements to installation equipment for aerospace and industrial applications.
Key responsibilities
- Create detailed drawings and layout plans for proposed designs.
- Perform force, stress, dynamics, and performance analyses.
- Support drafting, detailing, prototype manufacturing, and performance evaluation.
- Participate in project reviews to assess progress and resolve issues.
- Maintain engineering documentation according to company standards.
- Collaborate with sales, system specialists, and other divisional personnel.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving design or process changes.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety and environmental standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5–8 years of engineering experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Proficiency in technical Japanese communication.
Required skills
- Proficient use of CAD software.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
- Project management capabilities for hydraulic power unit development.
- Technical Japanese language skills.
