DDR Programming Support Intern

About the role

The DDR Programming Support Intern will assist the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Branch of the UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office. The internship is unpaid, can be full‑time (35 h/week) or part‑time (20 h/week), and follows a hybrid schedule with four days on‑site at the UN premises in New York and one remote day.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review briefing notes, reports and other internal documents.
• Conduct research on current DDR developments in assigned countries.
• Support the Inter‑Agency Working Group on DDR and the review of Integrated DDR Standards.
• Design UML diagrams (use case, class, activity, etc.) to visualise data and processes.
• Assist in developing and disseminating communication and public‑information material.
• Maintain fact sheets and information repositories on peacekeeping missions.
• Participate in conferences, meetings and other relevant events.

Required profile

• Available for a 3‑month internship with the possibility of extension to 6 months.
• Willing to work either full‑time or part‑time as defined.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment (four days on‑site, one day remote).

Required skills

• UML diagramming (use case, class, activity diagrams, etc.).
