DDR Programme Support Intern

About the role

The DDR Programme Support Intern will join the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Branch of the Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office in New York. This six‑month unpaid internship offers a hybrid work arrangement, providing exposure to DDR processes across several UN peacekeeping missions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting briefing notes, reports and other internal documents.
• Conduct research on current developments related to DDR in assigned countries.
• Support the organisation of events, conferences and meetings.
• Contribute to the Inter‑Agency Working Group on DDR and the review of Integrated DDR Standards.
• Help develop and disseminate communication and public‑information material.
• Maintain fact sheets and information repositories on peacekeeping missions.
• Attend relevant conferences and meetings, providing verbal or written briefings.
• Provide general administrative support to the DDR Branch.

Required profile

• Strong interest in disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration processes.
• Ability to conduct research and produce clear written summaries.
• Good organisational skills for event and meeting support.
