DC Maintenance Technician - Conveyor Repair

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a DC Maintenance Technician focused on conveyor repair in its Chicago distribution center. The role oversees, maintains and repairs equipment and other facility structures in a complex warehouse environment, reporting to the Area Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electric lift equipment, conveyor systems, and technical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues; understand and troubleshoot conveyor operating system logic (about 50% of the role)
• Perform preventative maintenance and necessary modifications on electric lift equipment, conveyor systems and buildings (about 20%)
• Provide equipment status reports, including details of unusual maintenance problems (about 10%)
• Follow manufacturer, Home Depot and government safety guidelines, OSHA standards and safety codes (about 10%)
• Maintain a safe and clean work area, cleaning up daily (about 10%)

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Education acquired through a trade school program or equivalent; no additional education required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, evenings and holidays
• Physical ability to stand, walk and regularly lift or carry material of moderate weight (8-20 pounds); occasional overnight travel under 10%
• Work in a warehouse setting with exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise and fumes

Required skills

• Experience working on conveyor systems preferred
• Experience with general engine parts
• Basic computer skills
• Mechanical inclination

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $27.00 - $39.00.
