Day Shift Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic (Day Shift) is responsible for keeping production equipment and mechanical systems running reliably at Nestlé Health Science’s Savannah plant. The role works independently, follows safety and quality standards, and provides basic training to less‑experienced team members.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, drive, steam, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical assets using a computerized maintenance system.
• Support equipment upgrades, system start‑ups, and capital or special maintenance projects.
• Update engineering drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
• Conduct welding and fabrication work (MIG, TIG, stick) as required.
• Coach operators on equipment adjustments, changeovers, and basic technical troubleshooting.
• Participate in safety, quality, and equipment performance problem‑solving.
• Identify safety risks proactively and follow all safety procedures.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives such as TPM, Lean, and standard work.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or electromechanical systems, preferably in a manufacturing or food‑production environment.
• High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
• Basic proficiency in English to read safety procedures, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
• Ability to work off‑shifts, weekends, overtime, and extended shifts as needed.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, work in varying temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
• Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, stick).
• Ability to read measurements, gauges, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Experience with preventive maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
