Data Science Consultant – Hybrid, New York

About the role

A leading global investment firm is seeking a Data Science Consultant to support investment diligence and portfolio value‑creation initiatives. The position is based in New York with a hybrid work model, offering the chance to work directly with deal teams, operating executives, and senior leadership on high‑impact commercial and operational challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid, decision‑grade analyses for live investment diligence across commercial, operational and market datasets.
• Partner with investment teams to uncover growth opportunities, operational risks and commercial insights that shape investment decisions.
• Design and implement pragmatic analytics and AI solutions for portfolio companies, focusing on measurable impact such as churn prediction, revenue optimization, pricing strategy and demand forecasting.
• Develop proofs‑of‑concept and applied data‑science initiatives, ensuring adoption into existing business processes.
• Evaluate build‑versus‑buy scenarios and recommend third‑party AI or SaaS solutions when appropriate.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on data‑science experience in consulting, private‑equity, analytics or commercially‑oriented environments.
• Ability to independently frame ambiguous business problems rather than merely execute predefined tasks.
• Experience working at the intersection of finance, operations and technology.

Required skills

• Python for data analysis, modeling and production‑grade implementations.
