Data Engineer

About the role

Agile Defense is looking for a Data Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable, AI‑enabled data solutions for the Department of Defense’s CDAO ADA IR program. The position is based on Camp H.M. Smith in Honolulu and requires a Top Secret clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain reusable data ingestion, transformation, and feature‑engineering services supporting AI/ML workflows.
• Develop containerized data‑science capabilities (e.g., entity resolution, classification, clustering) following CI/CD, version‑control, and testing standards.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps, product managers, full‑stack developers, and mission stakeholders to integrate services into secure production environments using Databricks, Docker, and Terraform.
• Build, train, and operationalize ML models for decision support, automation, anomaly detection, and pattern recognition using Python, Spark, SageMaker, MLflow, or similar frameworks.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and security compliance with DoD enterprise and cloud‑native architecture.

Required profile

• Top Secret clearance (must be held at start of employment).
• Strong technical communication and collaborative mindset.
• Experience working in agile, reproducible, and continuously delivered environments.
