Data Conversion Software Engineer

About the role

Career Team is seeking a Data Conversion Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain systems that transform and integrate data for government‑funded workforce development programs. You will work with modern web technologies in an Agile environment, delivering software that directly impacts job seekers across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust data ingestion and conversion solutions using MongoDB, Node.js, Nest.js, and Next.js.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines that transform structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured data (documents, PDFs, images, flat files) into normalized models.
• Create RESTful services and applications for data validation, transformation, and OCR‑based text extraction.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product partners to define conversion logic and resolve data quality issues.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and continuously improve performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript and backend development using Node.js.
• Experience building APIs with modern frameworks such as Nest.js or Express.
• Hands‑on experience ingesting data into MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Background working with document‑heavy, unstructured data and OCR or image‑based text extraction.
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, or Angular.
• Experience designing ETL‑style data pipelines.
• Understanding of RESTful services and data formats (JSON, XML).
• Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments.
