Data Analyst – Remote Contract (up to $100/hr)

About the role

Mercur connects elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs. We are seeking a remote, part‑time Data Analyst to build rigorous analytics that improve AI model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design long‑horizon analytics tasks with deterministic rubrics to evaluate agent performance against verifiable ground truth.
• Develop ad‑hoc analysis scenarios, experiments, and measurement frameworks with objective, checkable answers.
• Create SQL queries and A/B test readouts, defining metrics that align with ground‑truth values.
• Design and implement funnel and cohort analyses delivering precise numerical outputs.
• Work independently and asynchronously on challenging scenarios to enhance AI model outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a data or business‑intelligence analyst at a data‑mature organization.
• Strong written communication skills for encoding reasoning into deterministic rubrics.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL.
• A/B testing and experiment design.
• Metric design and specification.
• BI‑tool development (Looker, Tableau, Mode, Hex, Metabase).
