About the role

The UHealth Laboratories Department at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Cytogenetics Technologist 3. This senior‑level position performs advanced cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing, interprets results, and supports laboratory quality initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced and complex cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic assays independently.
• Interpret and evaluate cytogenetic results for accuracy and clinical relevance.
• Develop, validate, and implement new testing procedures and methodologies.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to fellow technologists.
• Review testing results generated by other staff as assigned.
• Identify and resolve complex technical, analytical, and workflow issues.
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure optimal laboratory functionality.
• Participate in the revision of laboratory manuals, SOPs, and preparation for inspections or audits.
• Mentor less‑experienced staff and contribute to continuing‑education activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant cytogenetics or molecular pathology experience.
• Valid State of Florida Molecular Pathology Technologist license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
