Cybersecurity Software Engineer II (ML & AI) - Remote

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Cybersecurity Software Engineer II to design and develop AI-powered security solutions that protect enterprise systems, applications and data. The role uses modern software engineering, cloud technologies and emerging AI frameworks to build secure, scalable applications. It is fully remote, reports to a Manager or Senior Manager with no direct reports, and typically involves less than 10% overnight travel.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and integrate cybersecurity systems with Enterprise Technology to mitigate risk
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents quickly
• Design, build, configure, maintain and monitor threat defense capabilities and user access management
• Coordinate integration with managed security providers and investigate incidents, recommending corrective actions

Required profile

• 2+ years of software development or engineering experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
• Legally permitted to work in the United States
• Preferred: 1-3 years of experience, Python and Java, and experience with agentic AI systems, RAG, AI evaluation and guardrails, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, microservices, CI/CD, Git, unit and integration testing, and observability

Required skills

• Python and at least one object-oriented language (Java preferred)
• Cloud-native development on Google Cloud Platform (Vertex AI, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Secret Manager); Azure or AWS equivalent depth considered
• SQL, relational, NoSQL and vector databases
• Microservices, APIs, CI/CD pipelines and Git
• Front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) for internal tools and dashboards

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $90,000 - $140,000.
