Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration

About the role

R1 is looking for a Patient Access Representative to work at LifePoint North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama. As the first point of contact for patients, you will help them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. The schedule is PRN, with a minimum of 48 hours a month on call and 24 hours, with additional shifts available. No healthcare background is required, as training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process, using multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Minimize delays in registration and answer questions with confidence, clarity and compassion
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Work with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask, prioritize quickly and handle shifting priorities
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus (not required)
