Customer Service Representative - Part Time Patient Registration

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a part-time, PRN Customer Service Representative to work in the patient registration area at Intermountain Alta View Hospital. You will help patients check into the hospital, answer questions during registration and build trust by collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment, using multiple screens and programs.
• Type quickly and accurately, keeping data correct between physician and nurse check-ins.
• Listen to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time.
• Collect patient and insurance information, dealing with the variation in health plans and coverage.
• Work on your feet and handle interruptions from clinicians for emergent clinical care.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital setting.
• Preferred: medical experience.

Required skills

• Quick study of technology and ability to type.
• Ability to answer phones and work across multiple programs.

The base pay range is $16.12 - $23.21 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education. The position is part time, PRN as needed and on-call.
