Customer Service Representative - Part Time Patient Registration

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a part-time Customer Service Representative for its Patient Registration team at Intermountain Orem Community Hospital. You will help patients check into the hospital, answering questions during registration and building trust by collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. The shift is part time, PRN as needed and on-call.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment, using multiple screens and several programs.
• Type quickly and accurately, keeping data correct between physician and nurse check-ins, even when clinicians interrupt for emergent care.
• Help patients who may be very ill or worried, asking follow-up questions and building rapport in real time.
• Collect patient and insurance information, dealing with the variation in health plans and coverage through training.
• Stand and move around while assisting patients complete their registration.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience; medical experience preferred.
• No previous healthcare experience required; training is provided.
• Must be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test and pass a background check before hire.
• Prepared to see illness and injuries in a hospital setting.

Required skills

• Quick study with technology, able to type and answer phones.
• Comfortable working across multiple programs and multitasking.

The base pay range is $16.00 - $21.10 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
