About the role
The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join its Licensing Division. The role involves assisting licensing applicants through in‑person, phone, and email interactions while ensuring accurate processing of applications and payments.
Key responsibilities
- Perform mathematical computations and process payments.
- Conduct clerical tasks such as data entry, record maintenance, and application processing under supervision.
- Verify records for accuracy and compliance with policies.
- Provide high‑volume customer service to licensing applicants in person and via phone.
- Assist applicants with outreach to other city agencies and facilitate inter‑agency communication.
- Respond to telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence, delivering clear applicant information.
- Attend seminars, meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Execute additional licensing tasks and adhere to division and agency policies.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
- Keyboard proficiency with a minimum typing speed of 100 keystrokes per minute.
- Professional demeanor, strong oral communication, organization, and self‑motivation.
- Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
