Customer Service / Front End Department Manager

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Customer Service/Front End Department Manager for its Wixom, Michigan store. The manager is responsible for the engagement of team members in their span of care, including recognition, feedback, coaching, performance management, training and development, and succession planning. They also oversee area operations and financials such as shrink, productivity, safety, scheduling and staffing forecasts.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure they receive onboarding, training, development, coaching and feedback.
• Identify talent and hold career conversations to build a diverse pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
• Hold candid discussions so that Meijer standards are upheld and team members can grow within the organization.
• Own area operations and financial results, including budget line items in the P&L, and drive safety, compliance and condition management.
• Ensure Team Leaders and Leads assign daily work and training needs.
• Implement process improvements and act as a steward of the Meijer culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and give precise direction to team members.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
