Custodian 2

About the role

The Custodian 2 joins the university custodial crew to keep campus facilities clean, sanitary, and safe for students, staff, and visitors. This onsite position involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks across multiple building types.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing in offices, classrooms, labs, residence hall lobbies, bathrooms, stairwells, elevators, and hallways.
• Empty trash and recycling containers, transport waste, and handle bio‑hazardous materials according to safety standards.
• Execute floor maintenance, including stripping, waxing, polishing, carpet extraction, and stain removal using industrial‑grade equipment.
• Move and rearrange furniture, fixtures, and lab equipment for special events and daily operations.
• Wash building exteriors, windows, walls, steps, and sidewalks using power washers, pressure sprayers, and related equipment.

Required profile

• Ability to perform physical labor and lift moderate loads.
• Comfort with handling hazardous waste and following safety protocols.
• Flexibility to work in various campus locations and adapt to changing cleaning priorities.

Required skills

• Operation of wet/dry vacuums and carpet extraction machines.
• Use of power washers, pressure sprayers, and commercial window‑washing equipment.
• Experience with floor stripping, waxing, and polishing tools.
• Handling of flood pumps and other water‑removal equipment.
