Cryptographic Software Engineer

About the role

MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Cryptographic Software Engineer to join its team in Linthicum Heights, MD. The role protects secure systems by providing expert engineering support for the Cryptographic Solutions Program and MPO's network security products. It is a full-time, onsite position requiring an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Key responsibilities

• Architect robust cryptographic software using functional and multi-paradigm design patterns, validated by unit, integration and system-level test suites.
• Develop cross-platform desktop and server applications using containerization, automated deployment pipelines and low-level network tools.
• Implement cryptographic primitives and secure protocols (PKI, symmetric/asymmetric ciphers, cryptographic hashing, low-level TCP/IP stacks) into production systems.
• Deliver cryptographic solutions and cybersecurity analysis to strengthen security posture, testing and certification for Intelligence Community deployments.
• Engineer high-assurance data protection systems and secure computing architectures for critical national security infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 14+ years of software and/or security engineering experience (or 18+ years without a degree).
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
• Ability to stay seated 50% of the time and to communicate accurately with colleagues, management and customers, including giving presentations.

Required skills

• Systems-level programming in C, C++ or Rust for high-assurance cryptographic software.
• Preferred: experience with high-grade network encryptors, Key Management Infrastructure and secure key distribution protocols.
• Preferred: background supporting IC or DoD cryptographic engineering, evaluation or system certification.

• Projected compensation range of $141,500 to $236,000, depending on factors such as experience, skills, location and contract wage determination.
