About the role
The Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS) at the University of Maryland seeks a research professional to lead interdisciplinary studies on critical and emerging technologies that affect national and economic security. You will work with multi‑disciplinary teams to generate actionable insights for government stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research on technology assessment, transition, and adoption across domains such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, and quantum science.
- Analyze supply‑chain dependencies, R&D ecosystems, and economic drivers shaping technology evolution.
- Produce rapid analytic sprints, stakeholder briefings, and technical deliverables that inform policy and acquisition decisions.
- Collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions to translate findings into practical recommendations.
Required profile
- Demonstrated expertise in critical and emerging technologies relevant to national security missions.
- Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of technology, policy, and human factors.
- Strong communication skills for presenting complex technical and socio‑technical topics to senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environments.
