Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Instructor

About the role

The Counter‑Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Instructor provides specialized instruction on CIED principles, tactics, and safe handling of explosive training devices at Joint Base McGuire‑Dix‑Lakehurst. The position supports both initial institutional training and ongoing instructor certification for Air Force personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and field instruction on CIED concepts, tactics, and safe use of explosive training devices.
• Manage, set up, reconstitute, and inventory training devices and pyrotechnics for daily courses.
• Serve as Range Safety Officer, enforce safety protocols, and supervise live‑fire training scenarios.
• Transport students to training locations and maintain accurate instructional records in compliance with accreditation policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of the Navy School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal or equivalent.
• Minimum four years of military or civilian EOD experience, or three years of C‑IED instruction.
• Associate degree or higher in any field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate government vehicles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat (preferred).
