Corporate Controller – Real Estate Finance

About the role

We are looking for a high‑accountability Controller to lead the corporate accounting function for a fast‑growing commercial real‑estate lender. Reporting to the executive finance team, you will oversee a talented accounting group, strengthen internal controls, and act as a strategic partner to support long‑term scaling.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end financial reporting and SEC compliance for internal and enterprise‑level presentations.
• Provide definitive guidance on complex U.S. GAAP treatments, especially fair‑value loan and debt accounting.
• Enhance and maintain a robust internal control environment, ensuring audit readiness and SOX compliance.
• Direct and mentor the corporate accounting department, overseeing AP, AR, payroll verification, and month‑end close.
• Partner with Strategy & Analytics to coordinate the annual budget, track performance metrics, and deliver actionable insights.
• Supervise the funding team responsible for commercial loan approvals and capital wire execution.
• Own core financial systems and lead automation initiatives to streamline workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• Active CPA license.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of junior teams.
• Extensive experience in the real‑estate sector and familiarity with balance‑sheet businesses and loan operations.
