Core Facility Research Specialist 2 (Research Lab)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC seeks a full‑time Core Facility Research Specialist 2 to support sophisticated research activities in a shared‑resource core facility on the UHealth campus. The specialist will act as a liaison between the SR Director, lab supervisors, and research staff, ensuring smooth operation of equipment, compliance, and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain sophisticated scientific equipment.
• Develop and test new core procedures and services.
• Ensure laboratory compliance with regulatory policies and SOPs.
• Record and review laboratory results using notebooks or databases.
• Train staff and users on protocols and applications.
• Manage inventory, place orders, verify receipts, and track stock.
• Perform QA/QC checks and minor equipment repairs or coordinate service engineers.
• Acquire proficiency in new software, cloud tools, webforms, and databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory or core‑facility experience.
• Strong learning agility to adopt new procedures and technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Technical proficiency with office software and basic computer tools.
