About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC seeks a full‑time Core Facility Research Specialist 2 to support cancer‑modeling activities within its revenue‑generating Shared Resource core. The specialist will act as a liaison between the core director, lab supervisors, and research staff, ensuring smooth operation of sophisticated equipment and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and maintain sophisticated scientific equipment used in cancer‑modeling research.
- Develop and refine core procedures, SOPs, and new service platforms.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, database entries, and inventory logs.
- Assist with QA/QC testing, minor equipment repairs, and coordination with service engineers.
- Evaluate supply inventories, place orders, verify receipts, and manage stock levels.
- Provide training to staff and users on core procedures and applications.
- Stay current with scientific publications and emerging techniques relevant to the core’s focus.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a research laboratory or core facility environment.
- Strong learning agility and ability to adapt to new protocols and technologies.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
