Coordination Officer

About the role

The Coordination Officer will work within the Policy and Best Practices Service of the Department of Peace Operations, supporting the development, dissemination and evaluation of peacekeeping policies and guidance. Reporting to the Chief of the Service through the Deputy Chief, the role combines knowledge‑management, research, and field coordination responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain knowledge‑management and guidance systems for the department.
• Design and facilitate consultations, workshops and interactive processes with DPO components and peacekeeping missions.
• Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources; generate surveys and interpret results.
• Coordinate policy development, including review of issues, trends and preparation of evaluations.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analysis sections, reports and inputs to publications.
• Provide substantive support for meetings, conferences and outreach activities, including agenda setting and presentation preparation.
• Lead or participate in complex field missions, guiding external consultants and drafting mission summaries.
• Coordinate budget‑related activities, including programme preparation, progress reporting and financial documentation.

Required profile

• Experience in developing and maintaining knowledge‑management systems.
• Proven ability to design and facilitate workshops and consultations.
• Strong research, analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Experience coordinating policy development and survey initiatives.
• Background in preparing programme budgets and financial statements.
• Ability to lead or support large, complex field missions.
