Controls Engineer

About the role

The Controls Engineer will join a project team to provide hardware and software expertise for automation solutions. The role involves designing, reviewing, and communicating control system concepts while ensuring reliability and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews at proposal, standards, and project levels.
• Analyze customer requirements and contribute to proposal development.
• Develop project requirements, design specifications, and maintain deviation logs.
• Perform detailed system design, implementation, testing, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
• Diagnose pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic system issues.
• Develop tools and integration strategies to improve effectiveness and reduce costs.
• Investigate architecture and technology enhancements.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, under budget, and to specification.
• Follow internal processes, control work instructions, and manage code incidents with minimal production impact.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree with 5 years or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in robotics, controls, or engineering.
• Professional, proactive, and positive attitude with strong customer‑service focus.
• Willingness to travel within the US or internationally.
• High mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning.

Required skills

• Automated controls systems experience.
• Robotic controls and programming platforms.
• Industrial vision systems.
• PLC/HMI programming (Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens).
• Industrial machinery controls design.
• 2D AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or Eplan for control system packages.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL508a, CE standards.
• Functional troubleshooting skills.
• Fieldbus architectures: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus.
