Controller – US Finance Team

About the role

Join a leading performance‑driven advertising company as a Controller on the US Finance team in Santa Monica. You will oversee the accounting function across the US and Canada, manage a team of finance professionals, and drive the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting while contributing to corporate strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations for the US and Canada, supervising a team of six and managing shared services such as AP, payroll, and T&E.
• Own the monthly close process, ensuring data accuracy, reconciliations, documentation, and timely disclosures.
• Analyze budget/forecast versus actual results, providing quantitative and qualitative insights.
• Coordinate year‑end audit and tax filings, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax consultants.
• Implement and maintain SOX compliance controls and develop new policies to meet departmental goals.
• Mentor and develop direct and extended team members, fostering best‑practice adoption and career growth.
• Partner with cross‑functional leaders to support strategic initiatives and drive financial performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in a public company or public accounting environment.
• 4+ years of people‑management experience, including managing managers and teams of three or more.
• Deep technical accounting expertise with strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX.
• Experience with multi‑entity and multi‑currency accounting.
• Proven ability to interface with all levels of management and build cross‑functional relationships.
• Excellent project‑management, analytical, and communication skills.
