Controller – Lead Accounting Function

About the role

Create is seeking a hands‑on Controller to build and lead its accounting function. You will own end‑to‑end financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and provide senior leadership with decision‑grade financial insight in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the fractional accounting team to manage and improve monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, delivering GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
• Prepare investor and board‑ready reporting packages with variance analysis and commentary.
• Design and maintain inventory accounting processes in the Fulfil ERP, including valuation, landed‑cost allocation, cycle‑counting, and obsolescence reserves.
• Oversee cost accounting, trade spend, deductions, and retail program accruals to ensure accurate COGS and margin reporting.
• Manage cash positioning, cash‑flow forecasts, and working‑capital optimization; own AP and AR processes.
• Lead preparation for the company’s first external audit, building audit‑ready documentation, internal control frameworks, and accounting policies.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and senior leadership; eventually hire and develop an accounting team.

Required profile

• CPA with 8‑12+ years of accounting experience, preferably in consumer packaged goods (CPG).
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and strong understanding of technical accounting issues.
• Proven ability to drive initiatives to completion with minimal oversight.
