Controller – Financial Leadership in Design Firm

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to join the leadership team of a respected Texas design firm. This role goes beyond traditional review and approval, focusing on owning the month‑end close, partnering with studio leaders, and driving financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full month‑end close process and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Partner with studio and business leaders to provide financial insights and support decision‑making.
• Identify and implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Lead technology initiatives that build a strong financial foundation for growth.
• Oversee project‑based accounting, work‑in‑progress (WIP) tracking, and professional‑services financials.

Required profile

• Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting professional with strong technical accounting skills.
• Experience in project‑based accounting environments, preferably within architecture, engineering, interior design, or similar professional‑services firms.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
• Strong mindset for systems and process improvement.
