Controller – Commercial Real Estate

About the role

We are seeking a senior Controller to lead the accounting and finance function for a fast‑growing real estate investment and property management organization. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution, driving process automation, AI‑enabled workflows, and robust financial reporting across a complex portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for 40+ legal entities and ~100 properties, ensuring accurate property‑level, entity‑level, and consolidated statements.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and cash management.
• Coordinate with external CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, lenders, and investors.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and timely KPI dashboards.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis at the portfolio level.
• Design and implement scalable systems, SOPs, and process diagrams to transition the department toward a technology‑enabled, AI‑supported model.

Required profile

• Extensive accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property‑management environments.
• Proven ability to manage finance operations across multiple entities and properties.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and automation.
• Leadership experience in building and guiding finance teams.
