Controller – Accounting Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead core accounting operations for a fast‑growing organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. This hands‑on leader will own the month‑end close, enhance reporting accuracy, and drive process improvements across a high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the full monthly close cycle, meeting deadlines and ensuring accurate financial results.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports that provide clear insight into business performance.
• Oversee balance‑sheet activity, completing reconciliations thoroughly and on schedule.
• Develop and refine accounting procedures to promote consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across locations.
• Partner with leadership and external advisors to evaluate team structure and implement accounting‑function improvements.
• Align banking, payroll, and other finance processes and support entity‑consolidation activities as needed.
• Assist with integration of newly acquired locations by standardizing accounting practices and controls.
• Communicate with cross‑functional partners to resolve issues and maintain momentum on finance projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of the full month‑end close process.
• Strong background in financial statement preparation, reporting, and balance‑sheet management.
• Proven track record overseeing account reconciliations with high accuracy standards.
• Demonstrated success leading process‑improvement initiatives and supporting organizational change.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner across teams and with external advisors.
