Control Room Alarm Response Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Control Room Alarm Response Technician for its client site in Groton, CT, providing 24/7 technical support for rapid response, triage and resolution of alarm conditions and operational issues across the Pfizer Groton site. The role covers utilities operations, Building Management Systems (BMS) and mechanical systems, acting as a site-wide "Do-It-Now" resource. Work is on 12-hour shifts on the DuPont schedule with four rotating teams.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and respond immediately to alarms across the site, including the central chiller plant, support systems and validated and non-validated BMS (EBI Honeywell, Siemens, TVC Central Utilities Building, Siemens Desigo, Edstrom Watchdog Water, PCMM POD, lighting alarms).
• Perform triage, assessment, first-response troubleshooting, minor repairs, operator care and escalation under the direction of the Control Room Operator.
• Provide on-site immediate response so on-call personnel do not need to travel, and carry out proactive facility rounds to spot leaks, abnormal noises, odors or deviations early.
• Record data, complete data sheets, review planned shutdowns daily and operate utilities distribution systems (chilled water, nitrogen, steam, air, lab waste).
• Carry out preventive maintenance under the Operator Care Program at night and on weekends, and support the Good Catch Program by identifying and mitigating risks.
• Collaborate with Control Room Operators and trade teams to give timely notifications and updates to science colleagues.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; six years of facility maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Experience with large industrial boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines, HVAC, chiller plants and cooling towers.
• Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and complete a fit test, and to obtain a security badge and driver's license.
• US citizenship or permanent residency required for facility credentials; no sponsorship provided.
• Physical demands: lifting to 50 lbs, climbing ladders and scaffolding, repetitive motions, extensive walking, and wearing PPE.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of a CMMS such as MAXIMO, EAMS or equivalent.
• Fluency in computer use, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Ability to read documents and take measurements, make informed decisions and communicate clearly by phone.
