Contracts and Grants Officer 2 – Research Administration

About the role

The Office of Research Administration at the University of Miami seeks a Contracts and Grants Officer 2 to independently negotiate and manage research contracts, ensuring compliance with sponsoring agency requirements and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate terms and conditions for a variety of research contracts.
• Provide guidance and advice to faculty and staff on sponsored research administration issues.
• Collaborate with IRB, Risk Management, Technology Transfer, Export Control, General Counsel, and other university units.
• Ensure adherence to university and unit‑level policies while safeguarding university assets.
• Monitor regulatory changes relevant to the contracts portfolio.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in contracting, sponsored research, or related areas.
• Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of federal agency requirements (NIH, DOD, NSF, NASA, DOE), Uniform Guidance, Export Control Regulations, and FAR.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
