Consultant – M&A Due Diligence in Aerospace & Defense

About the role
Fairmont Consulting Group is seeking a Consultant to support M&A due diligence and strategic advisory engagements for private‑equity, investor, and corporate clients in the aerospace, defense, and government services sectors. You will work closely with project teams, conduct market research, competitive analysis, and develop databases while interacting directly with clients and industry stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Perform market research and competitive analysis for client engagements.
- Develop and maintain databases that support due‑diligence projects.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and consultants to deliver rigorous, customized analytical products.
- Interact directly with clients and industry stakeholders to gather insights.
- Work primarily from the Boston (or Washington D.C.) office with limited travel.
Required profile
- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, economics, finance, or business; MBA or relevant graduate degree from a top‑tier institution.
- Top‑quartile academic performance (GPA, class rank).
- At least five years of post‑undergraduate experience in aerospace, defense, space, or government services.
- Proven experience in market analysis, strategy, or commercial due diligence.
- Strong domain knowledge of aerospace, defense, and/or government services.
- Flexibility, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel.
- Advanced PowerPoint.
