Construction Laborer

About the role

Granite Construction is seeking a reliable Laborer to support concrete crews on demolition, building, highway, and heavy‑construction projects. This entry‑level position offers on‑the‑job training and a clear path for career growth within one of the nation’s largest diversified construction firms.

Key responsibilities

• Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines.
• Place bolts, nails, a‑lines, and blocks under forms.
• Signal equipment operators to align and adjust machinery to grade specifications.
• Level earth to fine‑grade specifications using pick and shovel.
• Mix concrete with a portable mixer and finish surfaces using float, trowel, or screed.
• Position, join, and seal pipe sections.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Perform hand‑tool tasks such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, and removing projects from concrete.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year construction or heavy‑construction experience.
• Ability to follow specific directions and adapt to changing duties.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, lift 50‑100 lb loads, and climb as needed.

Required skills

• Concrete mixing using a portable mixer.
• Formwork installation and concrete finishing (float, trowel, screed).
• Scaffolding erection and shoring.
• Pipe joining and sealing.
• Proficient use of hand tools (saw, pick, shovel).
