Construction Estimator

About the role

Alston Construction is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its pre‑construction team in Edison. The Estimator will develop accurate, competitive proposals that help secure profitable projects while supporting the company’s commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare thorough, accurate cost estimates for all design phases, from concept through construction documents.
• Review drawings, attend bid meetings, and define proposal specifications and scope of work.
• Analyze historical project data, purchase orders, and contracts to inform future estimates.
• Provide design assistance and cost feasibility data to clients, design professionals, and project teams.
• Develop bid packages, lead bid solicitation, and manage RFP processes.
• Create scopes of work for subcontractors and perform trade takeoffs to mitigate cost risks.
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals for cost, scope, and completeness to determine award decisions.
• Identify and qualify new subcontractors to expand bid coverage.
• Prepare preliminary project schedules during pre‑construction and support the Superintendent with the construction schedule.
• Assist with pricing and negotiating change orders from owners and subcontractors.
• Maintain detailed records of assumptions and calculations for all estimates.

Required profile
