Construction Analysis Engineer

About the role

Amentum supports the Strategic Microelectronics program of a U.S. government agency and is looking for a Construction Analysis Lab mechanical engineer. The role develops, leads and supports physical construction analysis of microelectronic components such as circuit card assemblies, electronic packaging, hybrid and semiconductor devices, and electromechanical devices. It covers test plan development, test execution, analysis and reporting, and customer presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Technical oversight of construction analysis and instrument ownership and capability development
• Establish, develop and maintain construction analysis test programs
• Develop standard operating procedures, test plans and quantitative and semi-quantitative methods for non-standard requests
• Analyze test data, prepare and review reports and presentations for customers and stakeholders, and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
• Maintain organized test records and work independently or collaboratively

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology and two years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Preferred: prior DoD experience, active Secret Clearance, SCALE program affiliate

Required skills

• Microelectronic packaging and construction analysis techniques (2D and CT X-ray, SEM, PIND, XRF, leak testing, RGA, solderability, bond pull, die shear)
• MIL-STDs such as MIL-STD-750, 202, 883, 981 and 1580
• MS Word and PowerPoint, MATLAB or Python, ImageJ, SolidWorks or equivalent
• Deductive reasoning, technical writing and presentation skills
