Construction Accountant (Full‑Time, On‑Site)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant with strong construction‑industry experience to rebuild and maintain our financial records. The role focuses on cleaning up legacy bookkeeping, implementing accurate job costing, and ensuring ongoing compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and reconcile vendor accounts, rebuild accurate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable records, and clean up historical bookkeeping data.
• Implement and maintain project‑level job costing in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise – Contractor Edition, including customer hierarchy, cost classes, item lists, and chart‑of‑accounts adjustments.
• Support construction accounting processes such as retainage, progress billing, and project cost allocation.
• Update New York State Certified Payroll filings, maintain ongoing payroll compliance, and assist with payroll‑related financial records.
• Perform monthly bank and credit‑card reconciliations, prepare cash position, AP aging, AR aging, and project‑level cost tracking reports.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CA, ICMA) preferred.
• 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank/credit‑card reconciliations, general ledger, and job costing.
• Ability to work independently and resolve discrepancies without supervision.
